Our Soaps:
Bittersweet soaps are produced by hand in batches of one-hundred bars at a time using
natural food grade ingredients. We have developed our own unique soap recipe that
allows us to produce a finished  soap bar that contains over fifty-percent olive oil.
Our soaps and products contain essential oils for scenting and preserving. In short we
use raw natural ingredients found in nature assuring you receive a beautiful bar of soap.

Wrappings:
We believe what's outside should be as pretty as what's inside. Unsurpassed attention to
detail, presentation and packaging make Bittersweet stand out from the crowd. Our
beautiful soap bars offer the perfect memorable, affordable luxury gift.

Aging:
Soap and cheese are obviously different, but in comparison to soap making, some of the
processes are similar. While cheese is aged to become stronger in flavour, Bittersweet
Soap is left to rest to increase its mildness. Commercially, soap manufacturers often use
chemical accelerators to speed up the aging process. Although our soap requires a
resting period of  four to six weeks, we consider that time to be worth its weight in
producing a natural beautiful bar of soap.

About the Soap Maker:
Since 1997, Jill McDowell - Lincoln, proprietress of Bittersweet, has been designing,
manufacturing and creating Bittersweet products and soulful essentials in her studio.
For five of those years, she owned and operated Bittersweet Boutique, a unique brick and
mortar shoppe located in her historic town of Liberty.
At the boutique, Jill offered her hand-made creations exclusively.. After five years of
managing a shoppe as well as creating the merchandise that lined the shelves, her hectic
shop owners schedule didn't' allow her to focus on her passion, creating.

She turned her attention back to creating and closed the shop and opened her
Saturday
Studio. The Saturday Studio offers an outlet for her many local customers to purchase
their favorite Bittersweet products as well as browse new creations, as Jill's passion
for creating continues to evolve each and every day.
